Job Description

Overview

The Truck Driver role at Performance Foodservice involves learning to drive a tractor trailer or straight truck on local, over-the-road (OTR), and shuttle routes to deliver food products. This entry-level position requires completing training, adhering to safety standards, and providing excellent customer service during deliveries.

Key responsibilities

  • Attend and complete PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program
  • Assist driver trainer in executing deliveries and following instructions
  • Perform safety checks and inspections of tractor/truck and trailer
  • Report safety issues and required repairs
  • Drive and deliver customer orders according to schedule
  • Unload products and transport items into designated storage areas
  • Verify delivery with customers and obtain signatures
  • Complete daily record of hours of service as per Federal DOT requirements
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor and loading dock area

Required skills

  • CDL A License
  • 6+ months commercial driving experience
  • High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
  • Ability to pass post-offer drug test and road test
  • Valid current DOT Health Card
  • Ability to lift and move freight of varying sizes and weights
