Job Description

Overview

AG Transfer LLC is seeking an experienced Truck and Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join their team in Elwood, Illinois. This full-time role involves diagnosing, assessing, and performing repairs on a variety of heavy equipment while ensuring efficient operations and compliance with safety standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical issues and complete repairs on trucks, trailers, yard hostlers, skid steers, and heavy equipment
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime
  • Use Fleetio to log repairs, schedule maintenance, and track inspections
  • Maintain accurate digital maintenance records for DOT compliance
  • Coordinate with yard and operations teams to prioritize repairs
  • Monitor shop supplies and parts inventory for maintenance work
  • Follow all company and DOT safety policies while working

Required skills

  • 3-5 years of experience as a diesel mechanic
  • Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and complete repairs for diesel engines and heavy equipment
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • CDL Class A License (a plus)
  • Welding and fabrication skills (preferred)
  • Knowledge of safety practices and DOT documentation
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
