Overview

Paladin Inc. is seeking a Teacher Assistant for their Imagination Station program in Michigan City, Indiana. In this role, you will nurture children's curiosity and foster lifelong learning through purposeful experiences while supporting the lead teacher in classroom management and the implementation of curriculum that promotes various aspects of child development.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the lead teacher in classroom management and purposeful planning.
  • Teach and actively monitor children in the classroom, ensuring a safe learning environment.
  • Implement positive discipline strategies and monitor children’s behavior.
  • Conduct assessments and screenings for children within designated time frames.
  • Engage meaningfully with parents and assist in parent-teacher conferences and home visits.
  • Plan and lead family engagement activities and manage volunteer participation.
  • Maintain documentation related to children's assessments and developmental progress.
  • Collaborate with the lead teacher to endorse and implement curriculum aligned with educational standards.

Required skills

  • CDA credential or state-awarded equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License and access to a vehicle with liability insurance
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Adult and Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certifications
  • Experience with classroom management and child assessment
  • Knowledge of positive discipline and behavior management techniques
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Competency in using word processing, databases, internet, spreadsheets, and email
