Overview

Rincon Consultants, Inc is seeking experienced Swainson's Hawk Designated Biologists to provide construction compliance monitoring support for a renewable energy project in Fresno. This role involves conducting surveys, monitoring nesting habitats, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations within active construction environments.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct Swainson's hawk nesting surveys and habitat assessments
  • Provide biological monitoring during construction activities near hawk nesting habitats
  • Serve as the designated biologist coordinating with construction personnel and compliance teams
  • Monitor compliance with mitigation measures and permit conditions related to Swainson's hawk protection
  • Prepare daily monitoring logs and compliance documentation
  • Assist with special-status species surveys and compliance monitoring as needed
  • Support adaptive management recommendations to minimize impacts on protected species
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams

Required skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in biology, botany, ecology, environmental science, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of biological fieldwork experience, including construction compliance monitoring
  • Experience conducting Swainson's hawk surveys and nest monitoring in California's Central Valley
  • CDFW-approved or agency-recognized Swainson's Hawk Designated Biologist preferred
  • Familiarity with federal and state environmental regulations (CEQA, ESA, ITP)
  • Experience communicating with contractors and multidisciplinary teams
  • Expertise in Central Valley ecosystems and habitat assessments
  • Strong technical writing skills for field reports and documentation
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with field teams
  • Ability to hike 6-8 miles per day in challenging terrain
