Overview

The Sr. Principal Scientist - Molecular Cell Biologist role at IMS People in Boston involves inventing and advancing novel genetic therapeutics. The position requires collaboration across multiple platform technologies and disease areas within the organization, along with some travel for conferences or training.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with team members to drive forward new gene therapy programs
  • Perform cell culture and molecular biology experiments
  • Establish new functional assays to measure gene therapy outcomes both in vitro and in vivo
  • Establish and characterize novel assays for endpoint analysis in vivo studies
  • Work cross-functionally to deliver data to the project team within expected timelines
  • Maintain detailed documentation of scientific work in an electronic notebook

Required skills

  • B.S. and/or M.S. in biology or a closely related field
  • 3+ years of relevant laboratory experience
  • Aseptic cell culture experience including gene therapy experiments
  • Experience isolating nucleic acids and proteins from tissues
  • Experience in molecular endpoints including PCR, qPCR, ddPCR, and protein analysis
  • Familiarity with primer design, sequencing preparation, and analysis
  • Mouse and NHP tissue processing experience is a plus
  • Experience using automation in workflows is a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong organization, communication, and collaboration skills
