Overview

Raytheon is seeking a Senior Principal High Temperature Materials Engineer to join their Advanced Materials Section in Tucson, Arizona. This role involves working with integrated product teams on high temperature material testing and manufacturing methods, while managing multiple tasks to meet schedule demands. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining design verification test requirements and acting as a technical leader in material decisions.

Key responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical leader for material decisions and program direction.
  • Drive execution of material strategy across multiple programs.
  • Define and manage design verification test requirements.
  • Provide mentorship and support for junior engineers.
  • Lead projects and develop high fidelity simulations for missile system design.
  • Conduct data analysis and resolve anomalies in test results.
  • Document and present test results to internal and external customers.

Required skills

  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience or 7+ years with an advanced degree.
  • Strong background in high temperature materials and testing.
  • Experience in design and development related to mechanical engineering projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis.
  • Understanding of military specifications, ASTM test methods, and safety datasheets.
