Overview

Temperature Specialists, Inc. is seeking a Sensor Case Fabricator to join their machine shop team in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This role involves hands-on metal fabrication and production machining to create custom sensor cases used in industrial and laboratory applications. The position offers a diverse range of tasks, from manual lathe operation to welding and finishing, with a focus on craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Key responsibilities

  • Operate a manual lathe to machine metal sensor case components
  • Use a chop saw and cutting equipment for metal tubing and stock
  • Perform TIG welding on sensor case tubes
  • Operate laser welding equipment for small sensor components
  • Deburr and clean machined and cut parts
  • Operate sandblasting equipment for surface treatment
  • Use wire wheel polishing equipment for finishing metal parts
  • Read and interpret blueprints and work orders
  • Document production output and log completed work orders
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment

Required skills

  • Mechanical aptitude with machine tools and hand tools
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work orders
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Comfortable working in a machine shop environment
  • Communicative and collaborative attitude
  • Experience in machining, fabrication, welding, or metalworking is preferred but not required
