Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Tax Litigation Attorney with a minimum of 5 years of experience in tax controversy and criminal and civil tax litigation . The ideal candidate will have a strong background in representing clients before the IRS, U.S. Tax Court, and other relevant forums. Key Responsibilities: Represent clients in IRS audits, appeals, and collection matters. Handle civil and criminal tax litigation, including trials and administrative proceedings. Develop legal strategies for resolving complex tax disputes. Prepare and file motions, pleadings, and other legal documents. Conduct legal research and provide written analyses on various tax controversy matters. Advise clients on potential tax liabilities and defense strategies. Negotiate settlements with taxing authorities. Stay updated on federal and state tax laws and regulations. Qualifications: Active member in good standing with Michigan State Bar; additional admission to the U.S. Tax Court preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience in tax controversy and civil/criminal tax litigation. Strong understanding of IRS administrative procedures and tax court practice. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively. Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Preferred Skills: LLM in Taxation. Experience with offshore voluntary disclosures and FBAR issues. Background in white-collar criminal defense is a plus.
