Job Description

Overview

Arzeda is seeking a detail-oriented Scientist to join their Protein Testing Team in Seattle. The role focuses on developing high-throughput enzyme assays and optimizing automation workflows while leveraging expertise in electrochemistry and enzymology to enhance enzyme screening and characterization.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop robust high throughput enzyme assays for bioelectro-conversions or bioconversions
  • Evaluate enzyme performance using electrochemical assays and traditional enzyme assays
  • Contribute to experimental design and drive identification of enzymes with desired properties
  • Perform cell-free expression and high-throughput protein preparation as needed
  • Design and optimize automation-compatible assay workflows
  • Partner with automation and software teams to implement robotic handling and data analysis pipelines
  • Identify experimental bottlenecks and develop strategies to improve assay cycle time
  • Develop, optimize, and perform laboratory SOPs
  • Interface with upstream and downstream teams for efficient data exchange
  • Operate and maintain electrochemistry equipment

Required skills

  • Ph.D. in Bioelectrocatalysis, Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, or related field, or 4+ years of experience in a Masters o
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with enzyme characterization
  • Experience developing enzyme assays for biocatalysis or bioconversions
  • Experience designing or operating automated experimental workflows and high-throughput assay systems
  • Understanding of redox chemistry and thermodynamics
  • Experience with enzyme-electrode interfaces and electrochemical methods
  • Familiarity with Marcus and Butler-Volmer theory pertaining to electrocatalysis
  • Data evaluation, report creation, and results presentation skills
  • Adaptability to changing plans and open communication within a team
  • Python and/or R experience
  • Experience with automation equipment and HPLC or LC/MS
