Job Description

Overview

The Safety Officer at Catherine Hershey School (CHS) is responsible for creating a safe and secure environment for children, staff, and visitors. This role involves patrolling the campus, enforcing safety procedures, and responding to emergencies. The Officer will report directly to the School Operations Manager and will be involved in risk assessment and communication with local emergency services.

Key responsibilities

  • Patrol campus and grounds to ensure safety and security
  • Check doors and windows of buildings to ensure they are locked as necessary
  • Enforce parking regulations
  • Respond to safety concerns and assist employees and visitors
  • Report safety issues and place work orders as needed
  • Investigate suspicious vehicles on campus
  • Communicate with local fire, ambulance, and police departments
  • Maintain visitor logs for campus
  • Respond to fire and security alarms
  • Document security calls in patrol logs
  • Complete detailed incident reports and conduct follow-up investigations
  • Enforce organizational policies and ensure compliance with PA State laws
  • Facilitate emergency evacuations on campus
  • Attend departmental meetings and relay updates to staff

Required skills

  • Associates Degree in law enforcement or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in security or law enforcement
  • CPR and AED Certification
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively use technology and Microsoft Suite
  • Commitment to the values and mission of CHS
  • U.S. work authorization and ability to pass background checks
