Job Description

Overview

The Residential Accountant at P.J. Morgan Investments will play a crucial role in guiding financial strategy, budgeting, and forecasting across multiple entities within the company. This high-visibility position will allow the individual to work closely with executive leadership, lead the accounting team, and contribute to the overall growth and scalability of the organization.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare, analyze, and present accurate financial reports for properties, including income statements and balance sheets.
  • Partner with property managers to develop and manage annual operating budgets.
  • Prepare month-end journal entries and adjustments for accurate and timely financial close.
  • Calculate, review, and reconcile semi-annual and annual CAM reconciliations.
  • Calculate and process commission payments per company policies.
  • Support audits, reporting requests, and special accounting projects.
  • Complete work order billing for maintenance and handyman services.
  • Support Accounting Controller in Corporate Accounting tasks.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as needed.

Required skills

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in general ledger accounting
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Confidentiality and professionalism
  • Above-average written and verbal communication skills
  • Organizational and multitasking skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Self-disciplined, motivated, and detail-oriented
  • Experience with AppFolio strongly preferred
