Overview

The Radiological Control Technician 3 position at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) involves providing advanced field support and leadership in radiation protection programs across multiple facilities. This onsite role is crucial for ensuring safe work environments by managing radiological hazards and responding to incidents.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide direct field support for the Radiation Protection Program
  • Perform radiological job coverage and workplace surveys
  • Document radiological data and support high-hazard work activities
  • Respond to radiological events such as spills and contamination incidents
  • Assist in developing radiological work planning documents
  • Mentor and train junior Radiological Control Technicians
  • Ensure compliance with DOE radiation protection policies and safety requirements
  • Collaborate with multiple work groups on complex assignments

Required skills

  • High school diploma and a minimum of 3 years related experience
  • Experience in moderate- and high-hazard radiological environments
  • Knowledge of DOE radiation protection policies
  • Ability to develop and implement radiological work planning documents
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe PDF software
