Overview

The Part-Time Domestic Violence Advocate at HOPE of Ogle County plays a vital role in supporting individuals and families impacted by domestic violence. The advocate will provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and resources while collaborating with various organizations to ensure comprehensive assistance for clients. This part-time position requires a commitment of 20 hours per week in Rochelle, Illinois.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide voluntary, ethical, and accessible services for all clients.
  • Respond to crisis hotline calls.
  • Maintain shelter safety and cleanliness.
  • Document client interactions and maintain records accurately.
  • Provide domestic abuse support and education to clients.
  • Act as a liaison with hospitals and community agencies.
  • Facilitate life skills activities for clients.
  • Offer emotional support and safety planning.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training.
  • Assist with training new staff and volunteers.

Required skills

  • High School Education or related experience
  • Entry-level experience in crisis services or social work preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong conflict management skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Outlook
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations effectively
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
