This role is ideal for a seasoned professional who thrives in managing complex cloud environments, handling database upgrades, and ensuring high availability and disaster recovery.This is a hybrid position requiring the candidate to be onsite 5 days a week at our location in Richmond VA. Due to the critical nature of the infrastructure, some after-hours and weekend support will be required for patches, maintenance activities, and on-call rotations.Key Responsibilities Infrastructure Management: Design, configure, and manage Oracle OCI environments, including database, middleware, and core infrastructure components. Application & Middleware Support: Develop and maintain Oracle APEX (18+) applications and ORDS (22+) services. Administer, patch, and maintain Oracle WebLogic Server 14 (Fusion Middleware and WebLogic Suite). Database Administration: Plan and execute complex database upgrades, migrations, and conversions (specifically upgrading Oracle Databases from 19c to 26ai). Manage Container Databases (CDB) and Pluggable Databases (PDB), including PDB cloning. Data Protection & Recovery: Implement and manage robust backup, recovery, and replication strategies using RMAN, Data Guard, and other enterprise tools. Ensure high availability and comprehensive disaster recovery solutions. Automation & Performance: Optimize database performance, implement tuning recommendations, and automate routine tasks using Linux/Unix shell scripting and Ansible. Monitor environments using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) 24ai and manage PSU patching via the Fleet Management Tool. Collaboration: Partner closely with development and DevOps teams to ensure seamless application deployment, proactively identify potential environment issues, and provide timely technical support.Qualifications & Experience 10+ years of hands-on experience focused on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and enterprise Oracle technologies. Deep expertise with Oracle Database 19c and 26ai, CDB/PDB architecture, and upgrading across these versions. Strong administrative background with Oracle WebLogic Server 14, Oracle APEX, and ORDS. Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments, shell scripting, and infrastructure automation using Ansible and GitLab. Solid understanding of cloud computing architecture, database security best practices, and performance tuning. Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and scripting languages like Python or JavaScript is highly desirable. Relevant certifications (such as OCIP, OCP, or OCE) and experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI) are a plus.
