Job Description

Overview

Hollandia Dairy is seeking an Operations Accountant based in San Marcos, California. The ideal candidate will act as a financial liaison to the manufacturing facility, responsible for standard costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis while enhancing plant performance through financial insights and data-driven decisions.

Key responsibilities

  • Support monthly physical inventory counts and manage the cycle count program.
  • Prepare journal entries related to inventory, manufacturing costs, and operations accruals.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts related to inventory, production, and operational expenses.
  • Support monthly close activities and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare and analyze plant KPIs, including yield, waste, labor efficiency, and production costs.
  • Act as a business partner to the Plant Director, monitoring operating expenses.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities in collaboration with operations teams.
  • Support budget and forecasting for plant operations, warehousing, and supply chain.
  • Maintain compliance with accounting policies and GAAP standards.
  • Support audit requests related to inventory and manufacturing costs.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
  • 3-7+ years of accounting experience, preferably in food and beverage manufacturing.
  • Experience with cost accounting and inventory management.
  • ERP experience in a manufacturing environment (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, NetSuite, etc.).
  • Familiarity with BI/reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and financial modeling.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Understanding of internal controls and GAAP.
