Overview

CMC Rescue Inc is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Goleta, California. This role will involve designing and validating mechanical components for life safety equipment, contributing to a mission that directly impacts safety and saves lives. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong design proficiency in SolidWorks and possess a passion for continuous improvement within a collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, model, and document components and assemblies using SolidWorks.
  • Lead product development from concept through prototyping and manufacturing.
  • Produce detailed engineering drawings and specifications for production.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and compliant.
  • Conduct engineering analyses for reliability and safety assurance.
  • Develop and evaluate prototypes through testing and design improvements.
  • Manage design documentation and project data in PDM systems.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts for existing products.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME)
  • 5-7 years of professional mechanical design experience
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, including complex assemblies and simulation tools
  • Ability to produce high-quality design drawings
  • Experience with materials and processes for rope rescue hardware
  • Strong understanding of DFM principles
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and hands-on engineering capability
  • Familiarity with industrial laboratory environments and testing equipment
