Job Description

Overview

As the Managing Editor for K12 World Language at Vista Higher Learning, you will lead the development and strategy of high-quality print and digital educational content that meets pedagogical standards and learner needs. This role requires a collaborative and proactive editorial leader with extensive experience in K-12 publishing to guide a dedicated team through the content creation process from concept to launch.

Key responsibilities

  • Direct the editorial vision and execution of educational content for K12 World Language products
  • Ensure content aligns with learning objectives and pedagogical standards
  • Oversee content reviews and final approvals for print and digital products
  • Stay informed on trends and standards in K12 education to inform content strategy
  • Plan and manage multiple editorial projects from concept through delivery
  • Supervise and mentor a team of editors and content developers
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate content into product experiences
  • Source and manage freelance editors and subject-matter experts
  • Provide updates to stakeholders on project status and milestones

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree minimum
  • 10+ years of editorial experience in K12 or Higher Education publishing
  • 3+ years of management experience leading cross-functional editorial teams
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish
  • Strong strategic and analytical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience leading projects from concept to publication
  • Knowledge of print production workflows and digital content publishing
  • Familiarity with editorial principles and style guides (Chicago, APA)
  • Expertise in world language education and curriculum standards
  • Understanding of e-learning and digital content technologies (HTML, XML, EPUB)
  • Experience with CMS platforms and project management tools (Asana, Trello, Jira)
  • Proficiency with Adobe tools and office software (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace)
