Overview

As a Large Market Business Developer at Mercer, you will leverage your expertise in benefits consulting to build strategic relationships and drive growth for large and jumbo clients. This mid-senior role requires a proven sales professional who is passionate about making an impact in health, wealth, and career solutions, within a collaborative, hybrid environment based in Washington, DC.

Key responsibilities

  • Pursue an account list of approximately 40-50 prospects in the large and jumbo client space
  • Achieve sales goals by securing large, high-yield accounts through referrals and frequent interactions with prospect executives
  • Create compelling sales proposals and RFP responses that address client needs
  • Develop and execute strategic pursuit plans to increase market penetration with complex, large-scale clients
  • Lead the sales process for large accounts, managing negotiations and guiding pursuit teams

Required skills

  • BA/BS degree
  • Minimum 10 years of proven successful sales experience in the benefits consulting industry
  • Ability to articulate a sales funnel and identify, research, and prospect large accounts
  • Strong experience managing long sales cycles
  • Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with C-suite executives
  • Knowledge of benefits consulting in large market group health, retirement benefits, or HR consulting
