Overview

Heard & Smith, LLP is seeking a Junior Associate Disability Attorney to join their legal team dedicated to helping clients secure justice in their disability claims. This entry-level position involves representing clients in hearings before Social Security Administrative Law Judges and handling various legal tasks related to disability cases, requiring travel to hearings across multiple states.

Key responsibilities

  • Represent clients in hearings before Social Security Administrative Law Judges
  • Conduct legal research and write pre-hearing brief memorandums
  • Draft appeals council briefs
  • Answer client questions and review pre-hearing and hearing level cases
  • Maintain regular client contact via telephone, mail, and email
  • Complete other assigned tasks as needed

Required skills

  • Attorney License
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Excellent legal writing skills
  • Reliability and dependability
  • Eagerness to learn and make a difference
  • Knowledge of Social Security Disability Law (preferred but not required)
  • Ability to travel to hearings in other cities and states up to 70% of the time
