Heard & Smith, LLP is seeking a Junior Associate Disability Attorney to join their team in Houston, Texas. This role focuses on client-centered legal advocacy, particularly representing clients in hearings before Social Security Administrative Law Judges. Ideal candidates will find fulfillment in helping clients regain financial stability and independence through their legal work.

Key responsibilities

  • Represent clients in hearings before Social Security Administrative Law Judges
  • Conduct legal research and draft pre-hearing brief memorandums and appeals council briefs
  • Answer client questions via telephone, in person, mail, and email
  • Review and develop pre-hearing and hearing level cases
  • Travel to in-person hearings in various cities and states

Required skills

  • Attorney License
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Excellent legal writing skills
  • Reliability and dependability
  • Eagerness to learn and make a difference
  • Knowledge of Social Security Disability Law (preferred but not required)
  • Ability to travel to hearings in other cities and states
