Overview

The Adjunct Faculty - Engineering at Chattanooga College MDTC plays a crucial role in providing high-quality instruction and academic support to engineering students, focusing on student success, retention, and workforce readiness. This instructional position involves delivering course content, facilitating lab activities, and assessing student learning outcomes while maintaining a strong commitment to equity and inclusion.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide instructional support to engineering students and maintain regular contact regarding their progress.
  • Implement departmental and institutional strategic priorities related to student retention and engagement.
  • Counsel and advise individuals through individual and group sessions.
  • Educate individuals on institutional resources, policies, and procedures.
  • Implement technology solutions to promote efficiency and access.
  • Complete required professional development and training annually.
  • Support student services initiatives and department-wide initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records in compliance with requirements.
  • Collaborate with departments to increase engagement and retention, especially for at-risk populations.
  • Assist in planning and coordination of institutional events.

Required skills

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and public presentation skills.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Proficient in verbal and written communication.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience with technology tools such as Microsoft Office, LMS, and engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, MATLAB, SolidWo
  • Bachelor's degree with a Professional Engineer (PE) license required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in the engineering industry; teaching experience preferred.
