Job Description

Overview

The Infrastructure Operations Manager (IOM) at Princeton University is responsible for overseeing and supporting the Department of Public Safety's technology infrastructure. This role involves collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure the effective operation of a complex Communications Center, including a 9-1-1 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). The IOM is tasked with managing technology projects, maintaining compliance with regulations, and providing leadership for the technology needs of the department.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage Federal Communications Commission licenses and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee the University's digital trunked radio system and related infrastructure.
  • Serve as liaison between DPS and internal/external technology teams.
  • Plan and manage technology projects, budget, and stakeholder communications.
  • Support and train staff on Department of Public Safety technologies.
  • Monitor and ensure functionality of integrated campus safety systems.
  • Operate and maintain 9-1-1 PSAP systems and communication equipment.
  • Research and implement new technologies to enhance public safety readiness.

Required skills

  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience
  • 5+ years of team management experience
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of 911/PSAP network design and equipment needs
  • Ability to administer and support Microsoft Office Suite and Windows systems
  • Proficient in relational databases and networking systems
  • Knowledge of public safety communication standards and compliance requirements
  • Experience in managing multiple projects in fast-paced environments
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
