Overview

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic at American Engineering Testing Inc. is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of drilling rigs and heavy machinery used in various testing operations. This role emphasizes ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently to support ongoing projects.

Key responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues on heavy equipment
  • Perform scheduled maintenance including oil changes and system diagnostics
  • Conduct pre-use inspections and safety checks
  • Provide on-site support for emergency repairs
  • Minimize project delays by responding rapidly to mechanical breakdowns
  • Inspect and repair hydraulic components
  • Prepare and maintain detailed service logs and maintenance records
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and industry regulations
  • Work closely with engineers and project managers for equipment assessment

Required skills

  • 3+ years of experience with heavy equipment repair
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems and electrical diagnostics
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 6 months of employment
  • Welding and fabrication skills
  • Experience with field service work
