Overview

Astound is seeking a Field Service Technician to join their team in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. In this role, you will be responsible for detecting, troubleshooting, and resolving system outages, as well as performing maintenance on broadband networks. The Technician will also partake in a 24/7 on-call rotation and assist with various cable restoration tasks.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect, troubleshoot and resolve system outages related to transmission levels, signal losses, and off-air interference
  • Perform emergency aerial and underground coaxial cable restoration
  • Conduct preventative maintenance including testing, balancing, alignment and adjustments of equipment
  • Monitor, record and repair cable leakage
  • Assist co-workers with fiber splicing activities
  • Complete and distribute required documentation, such as work orders and daily logs
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation
  • Other duties as assigned

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of experience as a telecom technician
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Customer service communication skills (verbal, written)
  • Basic computer skills
  • Problem-solving abilities
  • Time management skills
  • Ability to work alone and in a team
  • Capability to read and interpret maps
  • Bucket certification, knowledge of Ohm's law and outside plant operations
  • Experience with hand or power tools
  • Physical ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs and work in various environmental conditions
