Job Description

Overview

As the Environmental Health and Safety Manager at Lonza's Portsmouth site, you will lead safety programs to ensure a compliant and safe working environment. This position requires collaboration across teams to improve safety performance and adherence to regulatory requirements while fostering a strong safety culture.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain site safety programs for regulatory compliance and risk reduction
  • Partner with site teams to promote safe operations and a positive safety culture
  • Lead safety inspections, audits, and regulatory readiness activities
  • Conduct and support risk assessments for new processes and equipment
  • Deliver safety training and raise safety awareness among employees and contractors
  • Manage safety data, reporting, and compliance documentation
  • Lead and develop a team of EHS professionals

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in EHS, engineering, or a science-related field
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in EHS or pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and compliance (e.g., OSHA)
  • Experience leading safety programs, audits, and risk assessments
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to drive continuous improvement
  • Strong communication skills for influencing across all levels
  • Comfortable in operational environments with some physical tasks
