Overview

Engine Controls Engineer IV Location: Waukesha, WI (Onsite) A growing manufacturer of residential and commercial power generation equipment is seeking an experienced Engine Controls Engineer IV to play a key role in the development of next-generation internal combustion engine control systems. This is a highly visible technical leadership position where you'll help drive new product development, mentor engineers, and work on advanced engine controls for products used around the world. The organization is investing heavily in its engine development capabilities, expanding its engineering teams, and building new testing facilities, creating excellent opportunities for long-term technical and leadership growth. What You'll Do Design, develop, validate, and launch engine control systems including fuel, ignition, throttle, and air/fuel management. Debug, validate, and optimize embedded control software using model-based design techniques. Develop and validate control strategies using MATLAB/Simulink and virtual validation environments. Support engine calibration, performance optimization, emissions, durability, and reliability testing. Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, firmware, manufacturing, and product development teams. Lead technical projects while mentoring junior engineers. Support product development from concept through production with minimal travel. What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field (Master's preferred). 7+ years of experience developing internal combustion engine control systems. Strong background in embedded controls and engine development. Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and model-based design. Knowledge of ECU development, powertrain controls, spark timing, AFR optimization, emissions, and engine calibration. Experience with calibration and data acquisition tools such as ATI Vision, CAN-based systems, dSPACE, AVL, or similar is highly preferred.
