Overview

As the Employee Relations Manager at UCLA Health, you will guide and advise on employee relations matters for staff employees, ensuring proper HR procedures and compliance with legal and policy standards. You will work closely with department HR representatives and senior leadership while representing UCLA Health in various committees to foster effective partnerships across departments.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide guidance on employee relations matters to staff at UCLA Health
  • Review disciplinary and employment-related documents and actions
  • Administer policies and contracts, including interpretation and management
  • Collaborate with various UCLA departments to ensure best practices
  • Orient management on policy and legal compliance
  • Create HR process protocols as needed
  • Conduct and assist in investigations related to workplace and HR issues

Required skills

  • 7+ years of experience in employment-related matters
  • Knowledge of public sector laws and requirements, specifically in healthcare and higher education
  • Experience in a union environment preferred
  • Strong writing skills for documents and reports
  • Demonstrated presentation skills for various settings
  • Understanding of employment laws including FMLA, HIPAA, and EEOC
  • Experience in conducting investigations of harassment and discrimination
  • Ability to analyze and draft proposals for negotiations
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
