Job Description

Overview

The Class A Diesel Mechanic Technician at Performance Foodservice is responsible for diagnosing and repairing medium to heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and maintenance vehicles. This role operates under minimal supervision while ensuring compliance with all State and Federal trucking regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair medium to heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and standard component inspections.
  • Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, and wheel bearings.
  • Ensure equipment is licensed and registered for roadworthiness.
  • Document work orders for repairs and maintenance.
  • Install, replace, and repair onboard computers.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes and battery checks.
  • Train other employees as required.

Required skills

  • 5+ years of experience in medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair
  • Knowledge of diesel maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Experience with air brakes and A/C refrigeration
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools
  • Mechanical skills and safety compliance
