Overview

As a Chef at Market District, you will be integral to the daily operations of the Central Kitchen, focusing on food preparation, quality, merchandising, and customer service. This role emphasizes food safety and education while promoting profitability and growth within the team and community.

Key responsibilities

  • Support a culture of safety including food and customer safety
  • Share food knowledge with team members and customers
  • Demonstrate suggestive selling techniques and provide sampling opportunities
  • Promote diversity, inclusion, and respect in the workplace
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and OSHA standards
  • Manage weekly inventories in collaboration with Kitchen Manager
  • Prepare food ingredients for efficient business management
  • Assist with monthly inventory processes
  • Meet or exceed budgeted food cost guidelines
  • Minimize product waste and follow strict production practices
  • Maintain accurate department records
  • Participate in catering preparation and production
  • Monitor adherence to company policies and standards
  • Follow recipe and merchandising guidelines
  • Engage in quarterly reviews and training sessions

Required skills

  • 3 to 5 years of culinary experience
  • Advanced Culinary Degree or Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Food Safety Awareness education
  • Serv-Safe Certification
  • Experience in inventory management and food quality control
  • Strong customer service and team management skills
