Job Description

Overview

As a Cable Maintenance Technician at Astound, you will be responsible for detecting, troubleshooting, and resolving system outages related to transmission levels and signal losses. This role involves performing emergency cable restorations, preventative maintenance, and ensuring compliance with regulations while participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect, troubleshoot and resolve system outages in aerial and underground capacities
  • Perform emergency coaxial cable restoration due to breaks or damage
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on power supply and active equipment
  • Monitor and repair cable leakage compliance with regulations
  • Assist co-workers with fiber splicing activities
  • Complete documentation such as work orders and daily logs
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation
  • Perform other assigned duties as needed

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of experience as a telecom technician
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
  • Customer service skills
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Problem-solving and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a team and alone
  • Knowledge of hand or power tools
  • Ability to read and interpret maps
  • Physical fitness to lift up to 75 lbs and perform tasks in various environments
