Job Description

Overview

The Broadband Maintenance Technician at Astound is responsible for detecting, troubleshooting, and resolving system outages related to transmission levels and signal losses. The role involves performing emergency cable restoration, preventative maintenance, and monitoring cable leakage, while also participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and resolve system outages in aerial and underground capacities
  • Prepare and perform emergency coaxial cable restoration
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on power supply and active components
  • Monitor, record, and repair cable leakage
  • Assist co-workers with fiber splicing activities
  • Complete and distribute work orders and daily logs
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation
  • Other duties as assigned

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of experience as a telecom technician
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Customer service skills
  • Verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of outside plant systems
