Job Description

Overview

Centre College is looking for qualified applicants for the position of Associate or Assistant Athletic Trainer. This role is crucial to the Sports Medicine Team and involves prevention, recognition, evaluation, care, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries, as well as healthcare administration and professional development. The position includes responsibilities for specific athletic teams and requires attendance during evenings, weekends, and travel based on the sports schedule.

Key responsibilities

  • Evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate athletic injuries
  • Provide practice and competition coverage for assigned teams
  • Travel with assigned teams as needed
  • Utilize therapeutic modalities, taping, and bracing appropriately
  • Identify and manage concussions in collaboration with the team physician
  • Complete documentation using Sportsware EMR
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members regarding student-athlete care
  • Communicate clearly with coaching staff about injuries and treatment plans
  • Maintain CPR/First Aid certification
  • Manage daily operations of athletic training facilities
  • Perform administrative duties as assigned
  • Abide by NCAA, state of Kentucky, and SAA conference rules
  • Maintain continuing education requirements

Required skills

  • Master's degree preferred, Bachelor's degree required
  • BOC certification in good standing
  • Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure license
  • First Aid/CPR certification for the Professional Rescuer
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective team player
  • Ability to react in emergency situations
  • Critical thinking and independent decision-making skills
  • Additional certifications like Graston, ART, Cupping, Dry Needling, CSCS, CES are beneficial
  • Moderate physical activity and ability to lift 25-40 lbs
