Job Description

Overview

The Associate Scientist at The Steely Group will perform experiments, organize data, and analyze results with minimal supervision. This role involves planning and conducting experiments, generating reliable data, and engaging in scientific discussions with coworkers.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitor and follow established protocols to obtain reproducible results
  • Plan, conduct, analyze, and record experiments while providing data interpretation
  • Engage coworkers in scientific discussions and communicate data effectively
  • Troubleshoot mammalian expression experimental difficulties
  • Contribute to internal and external reports and presentations
  • Coordinate and organize resources for the protein production process
  • Produce mAb like molecules in a stable CHO expression system
  • Use automation for transfecting and passaging productions
  • Utilize Benchling database system for electronic management and documentation
  • Measure harvest titers and ensure adherence to timelines with upstream and downstream teams

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or Analytical Chemistry
  • 2 years of industry experience (MS acceptable with up to 1 year relevant experience)
  • Experience in a Biopharmaceutical working environment
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique
  • Experience with recombinant protein expression
  • Familiarity with CHO or HEK cell cultures
  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques and automation equipment
  • Strong data analysis and scientific communication skills
  • Problem-solving abilities
