Heard & Smith, LLP is seeking an Associate Disability Attorney to join their legal team in Los Angeles, California. The firm has a strong commitment to helping clients regain financial independence through Social Security Disability claims and has been a leader in this field for over 35 years. This role involves providing legal advice, representing clients at hearings, and requires experience in Social Security Disability law.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice to clients
  • Prepare for and represent clients at disability hearings before Social Security Administrative Law Judges
  • Engage in legal writing at the ALJ and Appeals Council levels
  • Communicate with clients via telephone, mail, and email throughout the disability process
  • Travel to hearings in other cities and states as needed

Required skills

  • Attorney License
  • 1-3+ years of experience in Social Security Disability law
  • Experience conducting 200 or more hearings before SSA ALJs
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Reliability and dependability
  • Ability to travel up to 80% of the time
  • Fast internet connection and home office setup
