Job Description

Overview

Farmers Kitchen LLC is seeking an agronomist to support growth at their farm and network of contract growers. The role involves working with family farms to transition them to organic and regenerative potato production while also managing conventional production responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

  • Create crop planning documents each season
  • Act as contract grower point of contact for inbound logistics and agronomic support
  • Develop weekly agronomic field plans during the growing season
  • Create work orders for field operations
  • Maintain records and manage data of all field activities
  • Conduct crop scouting for fertility, pests, insects, and diseases
  • Manage organic and regenerative certification processes
  • Perform assessments for various crop stages including stand counts and yield checks
  • Oversee potato seed cutting sampling and adjustments
  • Conduct soil sampling and provide fertility recommendations
  • GPS map field boundaries
  • Create work orders for fertilizer and spray applications
  • Manage trial and plot research projects
  • Oversee petiole and tissue sampling programs
  • Assist with daily operations of a commercial farm

Required skills

  • Knowledge of agronomy and crop management
  • Experience in organic farming
  • Experience with specialty crops
  • Experience on large scale farms
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience with precision agriculture technology
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or 3-5 years relevant experience
