Overview

Consumer Direct is looking for a compassionate and energetic Youth Respite Provider in Menomonie, Wisconsin, to care for a 2-year-old boy with Autism and speech delay. This part-time role involves engaging the child in active play and community activities while ensuring his safety and promoting positive behavior.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide attentive supervision and ensure the child's safety at all times
  • Engage in active play and age-appropriate activities both indoors and outdoors
  • Encourage participation in community-based activities and outings
  • Use positive reinforcement, patience, and redirection to support behavior and engagement
  • Assist with basic needs, snacks, and routine care during scheduled hours
  • Support communication efforts through simple language, gestures, and sign language
  • Maintain a positive, nurturing, and encouraging environment
  • Communicate regularly with the guardian regarding activities, behaviors, and concerns

Required skills

  • Experience working with young children
  • Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder or developmental disabilities is a plus
  • Patience, dependability, and energy
  • Comfort with active play and outdoor activities
  • Ability to remain calm during tantrums and utilize positive behavior support strategies
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass a caregiver background check
