Job Description Job Description Established north central Ohio law office seeks an associate attorney to join a practice focused on Ohio workers' compensation, with a smaller emphasis on Social Security Disability. We are hiring for a long-term relationship, not a short-term fill, and we are prepared to discuss partnership with the right candidate. Will consider partnership depending on experience and qualifications.ResponsibilitiesRepresent claimants and appear at Industrial Commission and BWC hearings, some in personHandle workers' compensation litigation, including court appealsDraft briefs and related pleadings on an occasional basisManage a caseload with direct client contact from intake through resolutionExcellent communication skills are a mustThe ability and patience to deal with people from all walks of life is a mustPresently, this office handles about 15 to 35 hearings a week with new clients every weekQualificationsAdmission to the Ohio bar in good standingKnowledge of Chapter 4123 of the Ohio Revised Code, or in the case of the right fit, the ability, enthusiasm and willingness to quickly learn a new area of lawPreferably two to three years of experience in Ohio workers' compensation law - we will consider strong candidates with less experience, or with related experience, if the fit is rightExperience with Social Security Disability claims is a plusSound judgment, solid writing, and comfort handling hearings independently. Willing to train for the right candidate.Location and ScheduleOur office is in north central Ohio. We prefer candidates who live in or are willing to relocate to the surrounding area. The office centrally located and nearby major metropolitan areas: 60 minutes from northern Columbus, 60 minutes to Akron and 70 minutes to Cleveland. The area is renowned for its recreational opportunities, beautiful rolling hills and nearby Mohican State Park.
