Overview

We are looking for a Weekend Crew Lead to join our Paint and Blast Department in the rail industry. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for keeping the weekend crew productive, maintaining a safe work environment, and making sure railcar projects are completed on schedule and to quality standards.The ideal candidate is a dependable, hands-on leader who can work alongside the crew, keep production moving, address issues as they arise, and ensure the job gets done right.Weekend Shift ScheduleFriday - Sunday3:30 PM - 3:30 AMThree 12-hour shifts36 hours per week/ Paid for 40 hoursGeneral ResponsibilitiesThis role is responsible for performing a variety of duties to support the paint shop including scheduling and organizing production process as well as communicating with Production Manager and Assembly Manager regarding requirements. The paint manager is responsible for the training of employees on equipment, mixing, and booth/equipment maintenance. This role coordinates work within the department, as well as with other departments, reports pertinent information to supervisor and responds to inquiries or requests for information. This positionfalls under the company's safety-sensitive category. Successful candidates must comply with all company safety policies and procedures, including a zero-tolerance drug and alcohol policy and are subject to pre-employment, random, post-incident, and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing. Essential Duties Supervise daily paint shop operations, including assigning work, coordinating staffing, and ensuring production schedules and deadlines are met.Review job specifications, sales orders, and blueprints to determine paint requirements, products, chemicals, mix codes, and formulas.Ensure parts are properly prepared and available according to production schedules.Oversee all stages of the painting process, including surface preparation, masking, sandblasting, paint mixing/testing, booth operations, and final quality inspection.Maintain inventory of paint, chemicals, supplies, and other materials while monitoring job costs.Assist with maintenance and cleanliness of paint booths, blast booths, paint guns, cleaning equipment, filters, lighting, and surrounding work areas.Troubleshoot and resolve production, quality, staffing, and equipment issues as they arise.Prepare work assignments and ensure materials and supplies are available for second- and third-shift operations.Coordinate work activities with other departments to maintain an efficient flow of information and production.Work with the Plant Manager to establish departmental goals and implement strategies to meet production and quality objectives.Communicate regularly with the Plant Manager and other appropriate personnel regarding production, staffing, quality, and operational needs.
