Job Description

Overview

The Water/Wastewater Consultant provides onsite technical assistance and training to rural community infrastructure systems that face water or waste disposal issues. The role involves project planning, financing, and utility management, contributing to improvements in environmental management and community engagement.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide onsite technical assistance to 15-20 rural communities and small water/wastewater systems.
  • Develop, prepare, and submit timely, accurate reports and technical analyses to support community decision-making.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local, state, and federal stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and grant/contract requirements.
  • Manage multiple priorities while contributing to communications and branding efforts.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, social sciences, management, public administration, or related field prefer
  • Current Water or Wastewater Operator Certification and at least 5 years of experience
  • Experience in operating and/or managing community environmental management systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of financial statements and budgeting
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
