Overview

The Water/Wastewater Consultant at Communities Unlimited, Inc. is responsible for providing onsite technical assistance and training to rural community infrastructure systems facing water or waste disposal issues. The role involves project planning, financing, utility management, and administration, with an emphasis on supporting informed local decision-making through technical analyses and stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide onsite technical assistance to 15-20 rural communities and small water/wastewater systems
  • Develop and submit timely, accurate reports and project documentation
  • Build and maintain relationships with local, state, and federal stakeholders
  • Facilitate meetings, trainings, and community engagement efforts
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and reporting standards
  • Manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, social sciences, management, public administration, or related field prefer
  • 1 year experience in relevant field for degree holders
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Project management and self-directed time management
  • Understanding of basic financial statements and project budgeting
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work products
  • Valid driver's license and transportation
