Overview

The VP of Commercial Lending at New Valley Bank & Trust will report to the Chief Lending Officer and is responsible for cultivating relationships with local businesses and real estate investors to grow the loan portfolio. This role involves managing a portfolio of loans and ensuring compliance while monitoring repayment activities.

Key responsibilities

  • Evaluate loan documentation and analyze credit history of applicants.
  • Negotiate credit terms and originate profitable commercial loans.
  • Manage a commercial loan portfolio to ensure compliance and maintain asset quality.
  • Monitor loan repayment activities and take action on past due accounts.
  • Stay informed on market conditions and lending regulations.
  • Generate leads and referrals to other business lines within the bank.
  • Participate in community activities to establish goodwill and develop new business.

Required skills

  • Degree in Finance or Business or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a commercial lender.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong commercial real estate expertise.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial documents and legal contracts.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical capabilities.
