Overview

Breaktime is seeking a Vice President of Development to lead revenue growth and ensure the long-term financial sustainability of its mission to combat young adult homelessness. This role requires a strategic, relationship-driven leader with a passion for fundraising and a commitment to the organization's vision of a world without young adult homelessness.

Key responsibilities

  • Generate significant philanthropic revenue through major donor relationships
  • Lead and support a high-performing Development team
  • Build scalable revenue streams and develop a robust new donor pipeline
  • Steward high-priority donor relationships and strengthen institutional funding strategies
  • Create and execute donor retention strategy to deepen loyalty
  • Provide executive oversight for institutional giving and government grants strategy
  • Partner with senior leadership on fundraising strategy and donor engagement
  • Ensure ethical fundraising practices and transparency

Required skills

  • 10+ years of progressive development and fundraising experience
  • 5+ years in a senior management role
  • Successful track record of securing six- and seven-figure gifts
  • Experience managing a development department raising $10 million or more annually
  • Strong financial acumen for budgeting, forecasting, and revenue tracking
  • Familiarity with CRM data architecture, ideally Salesforce
  • Ability to lead high-level donor conversations
