Job Description

Overview

VitalCore Health Strategies is looking for a full-time Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant at the Duane Waters Health Center in Jackson, Michigan. The role involves providing medical services in a correctional environment and collaborating with various healthcare professionals. VitalCore is committed to creating a positive work environment that appreciates the dedication of its staff.

Key responsibilities

  • Respond to and initiate care for medical emergencies throughout the facility
  • Identify patient health problems and prescribe treatment under the direction of a physician
  • Implement medical care utilizing therapeutic regimens approved by a physician
  • Provide education to inmate/patient, healthcare staff, and correctional staff
  • Document all healthcare contacts
  • Adhere to safety and security policies and participate in disaster drills
  • Follow security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications
  • Delegate to and supervise other team members as appropriate
  • Adhere to Universal Precautions and other appropriate infection control practices
  • Attend training and meetings as required

Required skills

  • Graduate of an accredited college/university NP/PA program
  • Current licenses or certifications in the state of employment
  • Experience in correctional healthcare is desired but not required
