Overview

The Upholstery Technician I at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation in Appleton, Wisconsin is an entry-level position focused on fabricating and installing upholstery for aircraft interiors. Under moderate supervision, the technician will work with design and engineering drawings to meet specifications and ensure compliance with customer and FAA standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform technical upholstery functions following specifications
  • Fit panels and windows, install cabin head liners and sidewalls
  • Cut and surge carpets, fabricate metal parts, and cover bulkheads
  • Create carpet patterns based on design drawings and complete installations
  • Use material tracking systems to manage parts demand and track work
  • Read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation
  • Utilize measuring tools and perform basic math computations

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience with commercial sewing machines and upholstery tools
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English proficiently
  • Experience in upholstery or carpet trades preferred
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in restricted areas
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
