Hybrid: 2/3 setupJob DescriptionThe New York office is seeking an experienced Trusts & Estates Paralegal to support the firms New York Trusts & Estates practice. This role focuses on estate and trust administration and requires a detail-oriented professional who can manage multiple matters, work independently, and interact confidently with others. The position is hybrid and the paralegal will be required to be in the office 2-3 days per week. Flexibility with respect to the days in the office is required.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Manage all aspects of estate administrations, including preparation and filing of probate and administration proceedings, collection and valuation of assets, and payment of bequestsAssist with preparation of Wills, Trusts, health care directives, powers of attorney and other estate planning documentsPrepare and file federal and state estate tax returns and related filingsForm entities (including LLCs) and apply for and secure EINsPreparation of Receipt and Release Agreements for payment of bequests and for informal settlement of estate and trust accountingsReview and assist with preparation of fiduciary accountings for estates and trustsMaintain departmental calendars and track deadlines for estate administration and planning mattersProvide general support to attorneys and collaborate with internal teams as neededPlease note this job description does not cover or contain all activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.Qualifications:Bachelors degree requiredMinimum 5+ years of Trusts & Estates paralegal experienceCommissioned New York State Notary Public in good standing, or ability to obtain commission shortly after hireStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact well with people at all levels of the organization including clients and client advisorsDemonstrate a positive attitude, strong judgment, initiative, and integrityDependable, highly motivated, and a team playerAbility to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyHighly organized, detail-oriented, with above average spelling, language, and grammar skillsFlexibility to operate independently and in a team atmosphere with a high degree of accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalismProficient in Microsoft OfficeExperience with One Source (FPS) estate tax preparation software, New York Hot Docs forms and Surrogate Court filingsAbility to work overtime on short notice when required
