Overview

Pierce Transit is seeking a personable and adaptable Travel Trainer to provide individualized and group travel training aimed at empowering community members such as seniors, youth, and individuals with disabilities to use public transit services confidently. This role involves education, outreach, and engagement with diverse audiences through presentations and community events.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and deliver one-on-one and group travel training to clients
  • Conduct functional assessments related to public transit use
  • Schedule individual travel training and evaluate client progress
  • Coordinate paratransit pick-up for clients
  • Develop and conduct public presentations at community events
  • Staff community events to promote Pierce Transit services
  • Maintain accurate training histories and documentation
  • Drive job-related vehicles as needed

Required skills

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Three years of customer service experience
  • Valid Washington State driver license
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • Knowledge of ADA regulations related to transit services
  • Experience with diverse clientele, particularly seniors and individuals with disabilities
  • Proficiency in communication and presentation techniques
  • Ability to operate a computer for documentation
