Overview

The Team Leader - Mortgage at Midland States Bank is responsible for managing a team focused on residential mortgage loan origination. This leadership role involves overseeing loan originators, driving production goals, and nurturing relationships to generate new business opportunities while ensuring compliance with regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage a team of mortgage professionals in a customer-centric culture
  • Coach and develop team members while conducting performance management activities
  • Generate annual production in excess of $20 million
  • Cultivate relationships with referral sources to generate new business opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulation
  • Participate in sales calls and hold business plan reviews with the sales team
  • Contribute to effective marketing strategies and foster a sales-focused culture

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, real estate, or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience leading teams
  • 5 years' experience in real estate/mortgage sales
  • Strong knowledge of FHA, FNMA and FHLMS underwriting guidelines
  • Expertise in mortgage compliance regulations
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
  • In-depth knowledge of residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures
  • Ability to handle complex problems and make sound decisions
