Overview

The Surgery - General Physician Assistant role at Med Ninjas involves providing perioperative care for adult cardiothoracic and cardiovascular surgery patients in a hospital setting. The position requires both surgical assistance and management of post-surgical patients, with responsibility for collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide perioperative cardiothoracic surgical care
  • First assist in cardiac surgeries
  • Perform endoscopic vein harvesting
  • Manage ICU/CVICU and post-surgical patients
  • Conduct rounding and patient evaluations
  • Participate in clinic days weekly
  • Rotate through OR coverage Monday to Friday
  • Order and interpret labs/diagnostics
  • Develop care plans and prescribe medications
  • Perform bedside procedures
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary cardiac surgery team

Required skills

  • Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies
  • NCCPA (PA-C) certification
  • Minimum 3+ years cardiac/cardiovascular surgery experience with ICU management
  • Experience with endoscopic vein harvesting and first assisting
  • Active Colorado license
  • BLS (AHA or ARC) certification
  • Full prescriptive authority
  • NPDB self-query
