Overview

The Supervisor Coach at Orbis Inc. is responsible for providing coaching and mentoring to improve productivity and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in the shipbuilding industry. This role involves direct engagement with supervisors and workers to facilitate effective communication, problem resolution, and productivity improvements on the work site.

Key responsibilities

  • Coach supervisors on work staging and communication to workers
  • Set clear expectations for work progress and ensure adherence to schedules
  • Increase supervisor's deckplate presence for effective monitoring of work progress
  • Resolve problems related to paperwork, tooling, equipment, and material conditions
  • Ensure documentation requirements for work packages are maintained
  • Attend and provide coaching during meetings with supervisors
  • Facilitate smooth handoffs of work between shifts
  • Coach higher management on supporting supervisors effectively

Required skills

  • Minimum 10 years of supervisory experience in an industrial environment
  • Minimum 5 years of second-level management experience in shipbuilding or ship maintenance
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills
  • Problem resolution skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of shipbuilding industry standards
  • U.S. Citizenship and secret security clearance
