Job Description

Overview

As a Structural Welder at Ben's Structural Fabrication, you will be responsible for fabricating and welding structural building components with precision. This hands-on role emphasizes safety, quality, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Review and interpret shop drawings for weld specifications.
  • Fabricate structural weldments according to specifications and drawings.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment safely and effectively.
  • Perform MIG welding in flat and horizontal positions on mild steel.
  • Prepare surfaces for welding, including sanding and degreasing.
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean work area.
  • Inspect work for quality conformance using measuring devices.
  • Complete production and quality documentation accurately.
  • Support overall shop productivity and assist with general housekeeping.

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2+ years of MIG welding experience
  • Ability to pass horizontal (2G) weld qualification test
  • Ability to read and interpret prints and specifications
  • Completion of a welding curriculum from an accredited technical college (preferred)
  • Experience welding in vertical up (3G) position (preferred)
